hi Ross,
Thanks for all ur help. I found that the loss of 1-2% was due to the header being added to the *.mpg file on transmission, on the client side as the audio/video files are generated after stripping the headers.This is what i assumed that as when i played the video file i found no frames were lost.Thanks a lot ROSS for ur prompt help extended to me.
The results i got were :
===================================================================
[user03 at localhost testProgs]$ ls -l audio-MPA-2 video-MPV-1 test.mpg
-rw-rw-r-- 1 user03 user03 4656275 Jul 28 17:03 audio-MPA-2
-rw-r--r-- 1 user03 user03 54614880 Jul 28 16:32 test.mpg
-rw-rw-r-- 1 user03 user03 48927916 Jul 28 17:03 video-MPV-1
diff : 1030689 / % = 1.88
===================================================================
Am i correct in assuming that ?
Thanks once again,
Bala.B.
