This is a known, longstanding bug in QuickTime Player.  It cannot play MP3 
RTP streams.  (It can play MP3 *files*, or MPEG layer I or II audio RTP 
streams, but not MPEG layer III (i.e., MP3) RTP streams.)

Apple has known about this bug for a long time, but - for some odd reason - 
does not consider it a high priority bug.

Instead of QuickTime Player, I suggest using VLC.
