The correct URL is
         rtsp://media1.abc.net.au/sydney/m496661.ra

Note that this stream uses RealNetworks' non-standard protocol, which the 
LIVE.COM code currently doesn't handle.

MPlayer may be able to play that stream, but if so, it won't be using the 
LIVE.COM code, but instead using a special RealNetworks-specific hack built 
into MPlayer.
