Note that MPEG-4 patents apply primarily to encoding and decoding, 
which the "LIVE555 Streaming Media" code (quite deliberately) does *not* do.

If you develop any encoding or decoding software (open or closed 
source) that you link to the LIVE555 code, then you may be required 
to acquire appropriate patent licenses.  However, there are no known 
patent issues related to the LIVE555 code itself (it mainly 
implements IETF standards).
