It is called - exactly once - by an object once delivery of a data 
frame (to implement "doGetNextFrame()") has been completed.

There are *many* examples in the code.  See, for example, "DeviceSource.cpp".

(I'm sure there must have been some reason originally why I made this 
a static member function, but I can't figure out now why :-)  Maybe 
someday I'll fix this by making it a non-static member function 
instead.)
