I'd like to tune in here, because it something I work on as well.

1) Just to verify, does it means that elementary stream files (m4e or m4v)
are unable to contain the PTS/DTS timestamps at all?

2) If yes, what would be the recommended format to contain the streaming
media, taking into account the variating frame-rate coming with it?

3) Perhaps it's possible to time the frames according to 90000 value and
then specify their timestamps accordingly (multiple the millisecond
timestamps by 90 for example)?
