No, calling "head()" on a "DelayQueue" should 
never return NULL; I have no idea how this could 
be happening.

I assume you're not doing something silly like 
trying to access the library from more than one 
thread.  Is there anything unusual about your 
application (and, in particular, how it uses the 
event loop)?
