Interesting - could not find this option under the latest version of VLC though.

I recall having a similar issue when I had VLC configured with the  "USE GPU ACCELERATION (experimental)" turned on (under "Input & Codecs Setting")
This caused a flood of RTCP messages (at intervals less than 2ms!), but maybe only for an MPEG4 stream (?).

We have compiled openRTSP as you have suggested and this does not show any problem, with the RTCP packets coming out
of the client every second or so. VLC player still has the problem however with the packets coming out every 2ms. Bar
somebody altering the code in VLC, the only thing I can see which is different is that openRTSP is version V2011.10.05
and VLC is version V2011.05.25.

We are using VLC media player to play out a H263 stream. We are finding that the player is working correctly, but there is
continuous transmission of the receiver report RTCP packets. I have a attached a wireshark file containing the problem.
