I don't see how - unless "gettimeofday()" is somehow going haywire (e.g., returning the same value over and over again).

But in any case, because this seems to be a VLC-specific problem, it's probably not worthwhile continuing to speculate about this on the "live-devel" mailing list - unless and until a specific problem is found with the LIVE555 code,
