There is now a new way for people (and companies) to support new features in the "LIVE555 Streaming Media" software: "LIVE555 Funded Projects":

Based on the results from the recent survey, two of the most voted-for new features - support for IPv6 and the support for writing MKV files - have been introduced as funded projects.  More funded projects will be added in the future.
