Rather than speculating endlessly about how the "LIVE555 Streaming Media" software might perform on your system, why not just download it and try it yourself?  It will take you less than 5 minutes to download and build the software.

Because you are interested in RTSP client functionality, I suggest that you run the "testRTSPClient" demo application, which receives stream data (into a memory buffer), but does not decode or render it.
