The best way to check the status of the 'back end' stream is via the entity that actually creates and controls the 'back end' stream - i.e., the proxy server.  In particular, you could modify the function "ProxyRTSPClient::continueAfterLivenessCommand()" to do whatever you want (at which point, of course, you can't expect any more support from this mailing list).

In contrast, the 'front end' stream doesn't tell you anything about the status of the 'back end' stream.
