When I ran "testMPEG1or2AudioVideoStreamer" (both with and without the 
built-in RTSP server) using that file, I had no trouble playing the stream 
using VLC (version 0.7.2) on Windows XP.  ("testMPEG1or2AudioVideoStreamer" 
was running on FreeBSD; VLC was running on Windows.)

Unfortunately I'm not able to reproduce the problem that you're seeing.
