[Live-devel] file types

Does liveMdeia have a way to test file types ? For example, .mpg
or .mpeg files could be pretty much anything that has MPEG in its name.
Is there a way to easily find out if they should be opened with a
MPEG1or2Demux or if they can be used directly ? Same for other files,
like audio files, even though .wav, .mp3, .mpa etc. have different
extensions is it possible to find out the file type without looking at
the extensions ?
