Your assumption that I was redirecting the data to a file is correct.

I tried running and it worked. The resulting file had information and
would play. But the video and the audio were out of synch (very out of
synch I'm afraid). 

 

I then made a test in which I would fetch the reflected stream with
Quicktime Player and he would play that real time stream synchronized. I
then used Ethereal in the same test to check if rtcp packets were being
sent by the reflector but it seems they weren't, I could only see
outgoing RTCP packets from my machine to the DSS.

 

The machine where I'm running openRTSP also isn't behind a firewall that
could be preventing the RTCP packets from arriving so it seems the
problem is with DSS not sending the RTCP packets.

 

There is no way of making a synchronous recording without the use of the
-y option which needs the RTCP packets from DSS, right?
