As I've said before, we *suspect* that the problem is that the Amino
STB is not properly handling the *transition* between the normal play
stream, and the 'trick play' stream - perhaps due to excessive
burstiness. (Note that this is not true for all Transport Stream
files, just some.)

However, since I have no way of debugging the Amino STB, I have no
way of knowing exactly why it's failing. A reminder, once again,
that Live Networks, Inc. has no affiliation with Amino Technologies;
we just happen to have an "AmiNet 103" sitting around our lab.

I strongly urge someone from Amino Technologies (or, failing that,
someone who has the ability to debug their hardware) to report
*exactly* why their STBs are not handling the transition between
normal play and 'trick play' - using our server - for some Transport
Stream files. Until that time, I'm unlikely to be saying much more
on this topic.

Alternatively, if people know of other set-top box hardware that can
properly play MPEG Transport Streams - with 'trick play' - from our
(unmodified) server software, then please let us know, so we can
publicize them (as an alternative to Amino) as possible RTSP clients.

Finally, a reminder that VLC (as a RTSP client) will apparently be
supporting 'trick play' operations Real Soon Now. (We're all staying
tuned for an announcement from the VLC developers.)
