"-v" means: Play (and receive) only the video stream, outputting the 
received data to 'stdout'.

"-r" means: Play the entire stream (i.e., video and audio, if 
present), but don't actually receive the data ourself.  (The data 
will still arrive, but we don't actually receive it ourself.)
