... VLC does not recognize the filesuffix ".x264" it has to be ".h264".
changing the filename and trying again should work.

But I have the same problems when streaming h264 to VLC. It looks
pretty much like a bug in their part.
I have written the display part myself and it works. VLC doesn't.
