You'll need to set up a perodic, repeating task (e.g., running every 1 second), and measure the byte count each time.  You'll do this using "TaskScheduler::schedulerDelayedTask()".  I don't have time to explain in detail to a hobbyist how to do this, but there are several examples of this in the code.
