[Live-devel] Shared Library Support

Greetings.

We are currently exploring the possibility of using Live555 in a product consisting of a proprietary code base, that must run on both Windows and Linux. In order to comply with the LGPL, but not have to release our entire codebase, we must build Live555 as shared libraries. Currently however, since there are no storage class definition macros in the classes, this is not possible on the Windows platform.

I have found the forked Live456 project on GitHub<https://github.com/hatboyzero/live456> that adds support for shared libraries, but which has had no changes for the last 2 years. If I were to port this support back to the Live555 codebase, what would the chances be of this work being accepted upstream and what would the acceptance criteria be?

Kind regards.
