That’s not correct. RTP/RTCP works just fine across a NAT, provided (of course) that the NAT is set up to forward the appropriate port number(s) for RTP and RTCP.
However, *RTSP* (the streaming media control protocol) does not (in general) work across NATs - especially if the RTSP server is on a private network.
Therefore, if you have a RTSP server, you should put it on the ‘real’ public Internet - not on a private network behind a NAT.
